What’s doing – It’s time to think of Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day. Think of it as a way to demonstrate your love or dismiss it as a Hallmark holiday, if you have a significant other in your life, ignore it at your own risk.
Because the big day this year falls smack dab in the middle of the week (it’s Wednesday, Feb. 14) many organizations are taking advantage of this weekend to offer Valentine’s Day-related activities, all of which are scheduled for Saturday (Feb. 10):
Marine Corps League Valentine dance, 7-11 p.m. at Arnold VFW, 2301 Church Road. Doors open 6 p.m. Music by Scott Laytham and Karl Holmes, who play classic rock ‘n’ roll, pop and Motown music. A Wine & Dine Your Valentine event will begin at 7 p.m. at Fore Honor Golf & Event Center at Deer Creek USA, 5300 Dulin Creek Road, in House Springs. Proceeds will be used for operating expenses for the new PTSD Wellness and Counseling Office in Jefferson County. Cost is $65 and will include a six-course wine pairing dining experience, including appetizers, salad, prime rib, sides and desserts. To reserve seats, call 636-671-0447.
A Date Night for Darin Dierker will start at 7 p.m. at the Crystal City Eagles, 330 Bailey Road, in Crystal City.
Proceeds will fund medical expenses for Dierker, who is fighting cancer.
Doors open at 5 p.m., and music will begin at 7 p.m.

The bands Higher Ground and the Johnathan Braddy Band will perform. Dinner will be provided by Hog Call BBQ.
