Columbia Police are searching for 75-year-old Phillip McWhorther

The Columbia Police Department found a missing 75-year-old man on Monday and returned him to his home safely after issuing a missing person advisory, according to a news release from the department.

At about 11 p.m. on Sunday, Columbia Police responded to a missing person call around the Providence Road and Green Meadows area for Phillip McWhorter.

McWhorter is new to the area after moving from Florida and suffers from dementia, according to the release.

Officers requested air support and a silver advisory was issued. Multiple people reported seeing McWhorter after matching the description from the Silver Advisory.

The Columbia Police Department thanked the Boone County Sheriff’s Office for assisting with the search, and the members of the public who were able to help locate Phillip.

Before being located, the man was last seen on Sunday walking his dog toward Nifong Boulevard on South Providence Road.
