A Columbia man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly threatening to harm himself, family members, employees and law enforcement officers, according to the Columbia Police Department. Brandon L. Shoupe, 43, was charged with four felonies and ordered held without bond following his arrest, according to court records.

Officers responded about 11:10 a.m. Tuesday to the 1200 block of North College Avenue for an assault investigation.

According to police, Shoupe made threats to harm himself, family members and his employees. He also allegedly threatened to harm law enforcement officers if they attempted to take him into custody.

Columbia Police Street Crimes detectives used the department's Flock Safety camera system to locate Shoupe in the area of U.S. 63 and Conley Road. Detectives conducted a traffic stop, but Shoupe allegedly attempted to flee, police said.

Shoupe was taken into custody and was found in possession of two firearms and a substance suspected to be a controlled substance, according to police.

He was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, fourth-degree domestic violence, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of armed criminal action, delivery of a controlled substance and felony resisting arrest.
