Seniors get ready. The Senior Citizen Prom is planned for Saturday, April 22, and there is a special theme – “Meet Me in St. Louis.”
The event will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Northwest High School, 6005 Cedar Hill Road, in Cedar Hill. Admission is free and includes dinner. In addition, students and faculty prepare desserts for the event.
Steve Vanhoogstraat is the DJ for the dance again this year. A prom king and queen will also be selected.
Each year the Northwest High School Student Council puts on the special prom, which includes dinner and dancing, as a gift to the senior citizens of the community.
“This is for the community, to give senior citizens a night out. Some of them may have never gone to their own prom,” faculty sponsor Lana Romaine said.
She said students are always enthusiastic about the project.
“The prom is one of the students’ favorite things they do,” Romaine said.
Attendees are asked to dress up, and this year guests are encouraged to get in the spirit of the familiar classic film and wear clothes that reflect the theme, she said.
Reservations are not required, but those who plan to attend are encouraged to call the high school at 636-274-0555, ext. 18700, during school hours or ext. 18148 after school hours. Please leave a message that includes the number of people in your party.
