Arnold Police suspect a 29-year-old Florissant woman used a young boy to steal merchandise from the Kohl’s department store, 2150 Michigan Ave., at least two times in January. Approximately $760 worth of items were stolen during the first alleged theft, and approximately $250 worth of perfume was allegedly stolen in the second incident, police reported.

Investigators identified the woman and boy from a similar alleged theft in October at Kohl’s. The two were seen leaving the store’s parking lot in a red Hyundai Sonata after the second alleged theft, the report said.

The first alleged theft happened at about 6:50 p.m. Jan. 18. The woman allegedly put merchandise in a backpack and had the boy wear the backpack when they left the store, according to the report.

During the second alleged theft, the woman told the boy to leave the store at about 6:25 p.m. Jan. 23 without paying for Sephora perfume, according to the report.

Arnold Police are asking the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to charge the woman with felony stealing and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child for the alleged theft on Jan. 18, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.

He also said a summons was sent to the woman to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for alleged misdemeanor stealing and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child for the alleged theft on Jan. 23.

Christopher said as of Feb. 5, none of the stolen items had been located, and the suspect had not been arrested. He asks anyone with information about the woman to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
