A garage in the 200 block of Sigman Lane near Ware was destroyed by fire on July 17. No injuries were reported, De Soto Rural Fire Chief Tom Fitzgerald said.
He said firefighters were dispatched at 11:06 p.m. to the detached two-car garage, and when they arrived, the garage was fully engulfed in flames, and the fire had begun to spread to the exterior of the residence about 15 feet away.
“The residence was saved with (only) exterior damage,” Fitzgerald said. “The garage and contents were a total loss.”
The cause of the fire was undetermined, but it was not considered suspicious,” Fitzgerald said Tuesday, July 23.
He said the Hillsboro and Hematite fire protection districts and the De Soto Fire Department assisted with the call, and the Valle Ambulance District responded to the scene. The Mapaville, Jefferson R-7 and High Ridge fire protection districts assisted with other De Soto Rural Fire calls.
