Arnold Police are seeking a man who allegedly used $700 in counterfeit money to buy a tool set from a 35-year-old Arnold man. The victim had listed the tool set for sale on Facebook Marketplace, and the suspect responded to the listing, Arnold Police reported.
The alleged victim met the other man at about 4:30 p.m. April 2 in the parking lot outside the Arnold City Hall and Police Station building, 2101 Jeffco Blvd., and sold the man the 10-piece DeWalt cordless tool set. However, the $700 payment was made with bills described as “motion picture money,” the report said.
The victim said he did not realize the cash he was received was fake until after the other man left, according to the report.
The suspect was driving a gray 2008 Saturn Vue, and he is believed to be in his 30s, the report said.
As of April 12, the tools had not been recovered, and the suspect had not been arrested, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
