At least three people said a man went through their vehicles in the Windswept Farms subdivision. The victims live on Windswept Farms Drive, Cascade Lane and Ridgefield Bluff Court, Eureka Police reported.
A dark sedan was seen driving through the neighborhood with at least two people walking near it at times early in the morning of April 22. The sedan had missing a hubcap and had a loud exhaust, the report said.
Surveillance video allegedly showed a man wearing a dark jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt. The man had the hood over his head, according to the report.
A 46-year-old Eureka man called police at about 9 a.m. when he saw the center console was open in his 2020 Ford F-150. The man said nothing appeared to have been stolen, the report said.
Surveillance video showed a man open the unlocked pickup’s door at about 3:50 a.m. The man also attempted get into another vehicle parked outside the home in the 2000 block of Windswept Farms Driver, according to the report.
A 35-year-old Eureka woman also contacted police to report her 2020 Subaru had been entered, but she did not believe anything was stolen from the unlocked vehicle at a home in the 1600 block of Ridgefield Bluff Court, the report said.
A 37-year-old Eureka man contacted police to report he had surveillance video of someone entering his unlocked 2016 Toyota Tacoma in the 1500 block of Cascade Lane. The man said $250 and a key, which he believed no longer worked on the Tacoma and is worth approximately $100, were stolen, according to the report.
Surveillance video showed at least two people walking near the sedan on Cascade Lane. A man seen wearing what appeared to be the same jacket and sweatshirt from the video at the home on Windswept Farms Drive allegedly was seen going through the Tacoma, the report said.
After going through the pickup, the man got into the sedan, which then drove away, according to the report.
As of May 7, neither the money nor the key had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Capt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone who believes their vehicles were entered on April 22 or have information about the theft to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
