The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a rash of thefts from vehicles parked in the Samara Estates, Winter Garden and Winter Lake subdivisions off Old Hwy. 141 just south of the Gravois Bluffs shopping center in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton. Vehicles belonging to at least 13 people were broken into during the thefts, which occurred early Jan. 19.

Investigators said a white Kia Optima that had been reported stolen was seen driving through the subdivisions between about 2:45 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. that day, the report said.

During the thefts, vehicle windows were smashed, and the vehicles were rifled through. Victims said electronic devices were left behind, but money was stolen, according to the report.

The Sheriff’s Office said a total of $472 was stolen from the vehicles. An estimate for the damage to the vehicles was not provided in the report.

As of Jan. 25, none of the money had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified. The Optima also had not been recovered, spokesman Grant Bissell said.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
