Two teenage boys recently were arrested in connection with the theft of a Jeep from Caliber Collision, 1532 Parkway West, in Festus. The juveniles, one 17 and the other 13, were found in Leadington with the 2018 Jeep, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.

He said the 17-year-old is from Festus, but he did not know the 13-year-old’s home town.

The Jeep was stolen early on Feb. 22, and a few hours later police found the juveniles with the Jeep, Lewis said.

He said the incident began about 2 a.m., when an officer on patrol noticed dome lights on in two vehicles in the front parking lot at the auto repair shop.

“The officer found the dome lights on in a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze and a 2012 Dodge Challenger. The officer contacted an employee of the business who said the vehicles should have been in the back,” Lewis said. “They also discovered a 2018 Jeep was missing. We don’t know if we interrupted the theft (of the two vehicles with the dome lights on).”

He said the Jeep and two juvenile were found at about 6 a.m., and the juveniles were arrested and turned over to juvenile authorities.
