Two men were injured July 4 when a homemade firework ignited at a home in the 800 block of El Camino Drive in Pevely, Dunklin Fire Chief Brad Williams said.
At 2:15 p.m., the Dunklin Fire Protection District received a call about the incident.
“A man in his 50s was injured. I don’t know if he lived there. I think it was a homemade firework that ignited. He had substantial injuries to his head and arms – burns, etc.,” Williams said.
“A second man also was injured. He had burns.”
Williams said he did not know if the second man lived at the home and had no additional information about either of the men.
“Joachim-Plattin Ambulance took the first man to Mercy Hospital St. Louis (in Creve Coeur) and the second man to Mercy Hospital South (in south St. Louis County),” Williams said.
