A 22-year-old Pevely man and a 21-year-old Florissant man were arrested Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 3) after a police chase ended on Hwy. MM in House Springs, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said the chase started at 12:07 p.m. near West Four Ridge Road and Old Hwy. 21 in the Imperial area after a deputy saw a red 2008 Honda Accord that matched the description of a stolen vehicle. The deputy ran a computer check on the plates and found it had been reported stolen Dec. 1 from outside an apartment building in the 5300 block of Old Hwy. 21 in Imperial.
Bissell said the deputy tried to stop the vehicle and the driver allegedly took off, heading south on Old Hwy. 21 and then onto West Four Ridge Road and then Miller Road, where another deputy had laid out a spike strip. The car drove over the spikes with all four tires, but the driver reportedly continued west on Hwy. MM towards House Springs.
At about 12:25 p.m., the driver lost control of the car, and it went into an embankment on the south side of the highway, Bissell said.
He said the driver and passenger were not hurt in the crash, and they were arrested without further incident.
