The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 40-year-old Crystal City man and a 38-year-old St. Charles man for allegedly trying to break into a trailer outside a home in the 3300 block of West Rock Creek Road in High Ridge. The two allegedly were found at the scene with a truck that had been reported stolen in St. Louis, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The incident occurred about 12:18 a.m. June 13, and the victim called authorities, reporting that someone was attempting to break into the trailer, which was a separate structure from his residence. Nothing was stolen from the trailer, but when deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered two suspects allegedly getting inside a 2004 Ford Econoline 450 box truck that had been reported stolen June 12 from Auntie Margaret’s Daycare in St. Louis, the report said.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said July 10 that the two men were arrested and then the St. Charles man was released pending application for warrants. However, the Crystal City man was held on outstanding warrants from a previous case.
