The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of two all-terrain vehicles from a home on Lakeview Road north of Festus. Together the ATVs were valued at $10,000, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
A woman returned to the home at about 3:30 a.m. June 22 to find one of three ATVs typically kept in the garage in the driveway instead. The garage door was still closed, but the other two ATVs, a black-and-green 2022 Yamaha YZ450F and a white 2022 Yamaha YFM700, were missing, the report said.
A door to the garage was left unlocked, and it appears someone entered through that unlocked door and then disengaged the rolling garage door to open it. After the culprits took the ATVs from the garage, they apparently closed the garage door before leaving, according to the report.
As of June 30, the ATVs had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the stolen ATVs to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
