Arnold Police arrested a 38-year-old House Springs man and a 40-year-old St. Louis woman after stopping the car they were in on Hwy. 141 near Astra Way and allegedly finding drug paraphernalia and a substance believed to be heroin. The two were pulled over at 4:34 p.m. Jan. 14, Arnold Police reported.

Officers stopped the car, a 2001 Ford Taurus, because its license plate reportedly was registered to a van. When police signaled for the car to stop, the driver pulled over to the shoulder, but the car continued to roll forward, the report said.

As the Taurus rolled forward, officers said it looked like the occupants were trying to hide something under the car’s seats. After the car stopped, police allegedly found drug paraphernalia inside it. In addition, the woman allegedly had a plastic bag that appeared to contain heroin in the waistband of her pants, the report said.

The man already was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for driving while revoked, and the woman was wanted by the Sheriff’s Office for stealing and by the Maplewood Police for possession of drug paraphernalia. The two were arrested and taken to the Police Station, where they were booked and held for the other law enforcement agencies that wanted them, according to the report.

Depending on the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges through the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office against the woman for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and against the man for possession of drug paraphernalia, Capt. Rich Shular said.
