The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of copper wire at Clyde Hamrick Elementary School, 4525 E. Four Ridge Road, in Imperial. The theft occurred between Oct. 19 and Oct. 22, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
A school employee told investigators that electrical utility boxes had been tampered with and a copper wire was missing. The employee said several wires were cut, the report said.
In all, the damage and missing wire was estimated at $2,000, according to the report.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said Oct. 24 that the stolen wire had not been recovered and no arrests had been made. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
