Eureka Police are investigating the theft of an SUV from outside the Legends Terrace Apartment complex on Hogan Circle. The victim said he had the SUV keys, but he may have left the doors unlocked, police reported.
A 27-year-old Eureka man said he had parked his 2003 Dodge Durango in the lot at about 9:30 p.m. July 21 and when he returned to the SUV at about 7:45 a.m. July 22, it was gone and a different vehicle was parked in the spot. The woman whose vehicle was parked in the spot told police there was no vehicle parked there when she arrived at about 6:30 a.m. July 22, the report said.
The Durango was valued at about $2,000, according to the report.
As of July 23, the SUV had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Lt. Michael Tapp said. He asks anyone with information about the situation to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
