Eureka Police patch

A 22-year-old St. Louis man was arrested after he reportedly pried open cash registers inside a closed funnel cake stand at Six Flags in Eureka. Surveillance footage allegedly showed the man prying open the registers and injuring himself in the process, Eureka Police reported.

At about 6 p.m. Aug. 6, police were dispatched to the amusement park at 4900 Six Flags Road after park security detained the man, the report said.

The surveillance video reportedly showed the man enter the food stand through an open sliding door near the park’s Pandemonium and Xcalibur rides. Then, he allegedly tried to open a register before leaving the camera shot and returning with a tool used to lift pots, according to the report.

After that, the man allegedly opened one register, but when he tried to pry open the second cash drawer, he appeared to injure his hand with the tool. He then grabbed a roll of paper towels from the stand and left before being stopped by park security, according to the report.

The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. Eureka Police will seek a burglary charge against the man through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Lt. Michael Werges said.
