A 44-year-old St. Louis man has been arrested in connection with recent thefts at gyms in Arnold, says Detective Sgt. James Jones of the Arnold Police Department. Two of the incidents occurred May 17.
The first was at 9:34 a.m. at Club Fitness, 2218 Michigan Ave., where the man allegedly entered a locker room, forced open a locker and removed a pair of pants but put them back and fled when an employee saw him. The damage to the locker was estimated at $150, Arnold Police reported.
A few minutes later, the man entered the locker room at Xist Fitness, 3823 Vogel Road, forced open four lockers and stole a pair of pants that contained car keys, a wallet, credit cards and cash. The damage to those lockers was estimated at $80, and the stolen items were valued at $470, the report said.
The man allegedly could be seen on surveillance footage stealing the items. He was identified as a suspect, and on May 31, he was arrested, Jones said.
He was booked and then released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek felony stealing and property damage charges against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. As of June 3, no charges had been filed, Jones said.
