Police are seeking a 50-year-old St. Louis man who reportedly used pepper spray on two people outside the Rally’s restaurant, 1 Fox Valley Center, in Arnold. The man allegedly admitted to using pepper spray on a 41-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, both of St. Louis County, outside the Arnold restaurant following a dispute in St. Louis, Arnold Police reported.
At about 9:20 p.m. July 5, a Rally’s restaurant employee called police and said he saw a man in a black Chevrolet Tahoe follow a 1998 Dodge Dakota onto the restaurant parking lot and then approach the pickup and spray mace at the man and woman, who were inside the truck, the report said.
The man and woman told police the 50-year-old man assaulted them with the pepper spray. They also told police the suspect was one of the woman’s “babies’ daddies,” according to the report.
The 41-year-old man told police he and the woman were in St. Louis dropping off children the woman shares with the alleged assailant, who became angry, so the two left the suspect’s home. However, the 50-year-old got in the SUV and followed them, police reported.
The 41-year-old said he and the woman didn’t have a cell phone, so they drove to Rally’s restaurant to get an employee to call the police. The 41-year-old said when he and the woman stopped at the restaurant, the 50-year-old sprayed them with mace, the report said.
The man and woman refused medical treatment, police reported.
An officer called the 50-year-old man, who allegedly admitted to using pepper spray on the man and woman. However, he said the 41-year-old man used pepper spray on him first, so he got in the SUV and followed the two to Arnold to spray them back, the report said.
The 50-year-old was supposed to turn himself to Arnold Police on July 6, but he did not. As of July 15, Arnold Police were still trying to find him so they could issue him a citation to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for fourth-degree domestic assault, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
