Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 28-year-old St. Clair man for allegedly riding a stolen motorcycle at a home in the 8300 block of Portland Lane in Dittmer. The home was being searched for stolen vehicles, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
While deputies were searching the property at about 10:45 a.m. Aug. 1, the man was seen riding a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle that had been reported stolen in Berkeley County, S.C. A deputy arrested the man and allegedly found him with a substance believed to be an illegal drug, the report said.
The man was taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. The Sheriff’s Office will seek charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, spokesman Grant Bissell said.
He said the Sheriff’s Office would seek a first-degree tampering charge against the suspect, and depending on results of the drug analysis, a charge for possession of a controlled substance could be sought.
