A GPS tracking device on a Spire gas company trailer led to its recovery after it was stolen from a worksite in Festus. The theft occurred between Jan. 27 and Jan. 28, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
As of Feb. 2, no arrests had been, but the trailer had been recovered and returned to Spire, he said.
“Spire gas company employees contacted us at 9 a.m. Jan. 28 – they came into the station – and reported a 2008 tilting flatbed trailer left at a worksite on Shapiro Drive was stolen,” Lewis said. “It had been stolen overnight.
“They had a GPS tracker on it and we pinged it to a residence in Mineral Point (in Washington County). The Washington County Sheriff’s Department sent a deputy, who recovered the trailer. It was recovered later that night. I am not aware of any arrests.”
