The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen pickup hours after it was reported missing from a home west of Pevely. It is believed the keys were left inside the pickup, which may have been unlocked, police reported.
The victim reported at about 2:25 p.m. Feb. 7 that his 1989 Dodge Dakota, which is black with gray primer on the right side, was stolen from outside his home in the 3400 block of Hwy. Z west of Pevely. He told investigator the pickup was stolen between about 10 p.m. and midnight on Feb. 6, the report said.
A deputy at about 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 found the pickup abandoned in the 9900 block of Kerkhoff Road, which also is west of Pevely. The Sheriff’s Office did not report on the condition of the Dakota, and it did not provide an approximate value for the pickup.
As of Feb. 10, no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
