The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a recent burglary at a home in the 4500 block of Pioneer Road in the Hillsboro area, where $5,000 in cash and video gaming equipment recently were stolen.
Between 6 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Feb. 8, someone unlawfully entered the home and stole a gun safe with the cash inside, as well as an Xbox console, a PlayStation 3 console and some video games. In all, the stolen items were valued at $6,100, the Sheriff’ Office reported.
There were no signs of forced entry at the house, the report said.
The homeowner said the doors were locked, but a window may have been unlocked, according to the report.
As of Feb. 11, the stolen cash and other items had not been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, Lt. Gary Higginbotham said.
He asks anyone with information about the burglary to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
