The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has identified the body found Monday morning in House Springs as Dalton L. Roney.

Roney had been missing since Feb. 1, 2018, when he was 25.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said his body was identified on Thursday (Nov. 5). Bissell also said Roney’s family had been notified.

“The investigation is ongoing,” Bissell said today (Nov. 6). “It does not appear to be suspicious or that foul play was involved.”

Roney was last seen alive the morning of Feb. 1, 2018, walking near Tower Road and Hillsboro House Springs Road in House Springs. Before that Roney had been at his on Meadowlark Lane in House Springs, and when he left there, he did not have a vehicle, said his mother, Melissa Vanmeter of the Hillsboro area.

In 2018, Capt. Andy Sides said the family reported Roney missing.

Roney’s remains were found at about 8:45 a.m. Monday (Nov. 2) in a field along Hillsboro House Springs Road south of Hwy. MM, where a company was clearing land. Sheriff’s Office personnel investigated the area for most of Monday and resumed the investigation Tuesday (Nov. 3), with the assistance of cadaver dogs, Bissell said.
