A 37-year-old House Springs woman and a 32-year-old St. Louis woman were arrested in House Springs in connection with the theft of a car in St. Charles. The two women already were wanted on warrants, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The women were arrested at about 11:15 a.m. July 10 after the 2005 Nissan Altima they were in was pulled over on Duda Road near Hwy. MM. St. Charles Police had reported the car stolen, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office got a call about the car after it was spotted on Gravois Road near Demaree Street, the report said.

The St. Louis woman was driving and said she was in the process of buying the car and didn’t know it was stolen. However, deputies discovered she was wanted on a warrant from the Sheriff’s Office for stealing and on a warrant from St. Charles Police for vehicle theft. They also learned the House Springs woman was wanted on a warrant from the Sheriff’s Office for DWI and on a warrant from St. Louis County Police for possession of a controlled substance, according to the report.

The women were taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where they were held for the other law enforcement agencies. The Sheriff’s Office will seek tampering charges against the women through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, spokesman Grant Bissell said.
