A 34-year-old Robertsville woman was arrested July 7 after she allegedly destroyed stones, statues, headstones and planters and also broke a window at Holy Child Catholic School, 2316 Church Road, and stole items from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2300 Church Road, Arnold Police Capt. Rich Shular said.
When officers found the woman near the Arnold property, she allegedly admitted to breaking the concrete items and window at the school and taking items from the church. She did not say why she allegedly caused the damage or stole from the church, the report said.
Shular said the woman was arrested and taken to the Arnold Police Station, where she was booked and released pending application for warrants.
As of July 13, Arnold Police were waiting to receive an estimate for the damage at the school. Depending on the repair costs, Arnold Police will seek charges for destruction of property and stealing against the woman either through the Arnold Municipal Court or the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Shular said.
Arnold Police were called at about 10:30 p.m. July 7 to the church after an accident was reported in the parking lot. When an officer arrived, he found a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt on the lot, the report said.
The car was warm to the touch, but it did not show signs of being damaged. It also was unlocked and the keys were not in the car, according to the report.
When the officer searched the area, he found several smashed decorative stones, statues, headstones and planters outside of the school. He also saw that a window on the school was broken, and it appeared a piece of concrete had been thrown through it, according to the report.
Other officers were called to search the area, and the woman was found near the church and school. She said she owned the Cobalt and admitted to smashing the concrete and damaging the window at the school, the report said.
When officers searched the car, they allegedly found numerous items that appeared to be stolen from the church. The woman allegedly said she took the items, according to the report.
The stolen items were returned to the church, Shular said.
