The Hillsboro Community Civic Club is offering a $300 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those who have vandalized and stolen from the Jefferson County Fairgrounds over the last several months.
The latest incident occurred in December, said Kelly Fortel, the Civic Club office manager. The Civic Club office is housed at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 10349 Business 21, in Hillsboro.
“Over the past several months, we assume kids have come on the fairgrounds and started busting out windows, thrown things around the grounds,” Fortel said. “It’s escalated into them breaking into the band room and ransacking it. They’ve taken the golf carts out and busted them up. They’re driving them in an enclosed area.”
She said the culprits have caused several thousand dollars in damage.
Hillsboro Police Sgt. Steve Hutt said Tuesday (Jan. 22) that no suspects had been identified, but the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the Civic Club at 636-797-2600 or the Hillsboro Police at 636-797-5229.
