jcso 2 children dead 5-28-24

Investigators search a Mazda SUV that was driven this morning to Festus City Hall and Police Station on Tuesday morning by a woman who allegedly told officers she killed two of her children.

A pickup was reported stolen from outside the Bandana’s restaurant, 1220 Big Bill Road, in Arnold. The pickup was worth about $2,000, Arnold Police reported.

A 27-year-old Arnold man said he parked the 1994 Ford Ranger outside the restaurant at about 7 a.m. Jan. 22 and found it missing at about 9 a.m. that day, the report said.

The man said he was working at the restaurant during the theft, but it was not clear if he is a Bandana’s employee or was hired to perform work inside the restaurant, Arnold Police reported.

It is not known if the pickup was locked at the time of the theft, and the man did not say if he still had the keys to the Ranger, according to the report.

As of Jan. 27, the pickup had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
