Eureka Police have identified a 35-year-old St. Louis man as a person of interest in the theft of $1,492.69 worth of items from Walmart, 131 Eureka Towne Center Drive. A woman allegedly assisted the man with the theft, police reported.
At about 6:55 p.m. Feb. 18, a man and a woman used two carts to steal six 32-inch televisions, a hover board, a Dyson vacuum, an electric scooter, a tote bin and a five-piece bed set. The two left the parking lot in a silver Chrysler 200, the report said.
An officer saw the Chrysler near the intersection of North Central Avenue and Fourth Street, and he turned on his vehicle’s emergency lights and siren. However, the Chrysler allegedly drove through a red light and sped away, and the officer didn’t pursue the vehicle, according to the report.
Police identified the man as a person of interest after reviewing surveillance video, and they believe he is the same man the car is registered to and is wanted on warrants for felony shoplifting. The woman was not identified, the report said.
As of Tuesday, no one had been arrested, and none of the stolen items had been recovered, Capt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
