A Park Hills man has been charged with three felonies for allegedly driving a car at his estranged wife and her male friend, hitting and injuring the man, authorities reported.

Derek Ryan Ivy, 40, was charged April 12 with first-degree domestic assault-serious personal injury and first-degree assault or attempt-serious physical injury of special victim, both class A felonies, and third-degree domestic assault, a class E felony.

Ivy faces 10 to 30 years or life in prison for each of the class A felonies and four years for the class E felony.

As of April 26, he was being held in the Jefferson County Jail on no bond.

Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said the incident occurred about 7 p.m. on Brandon Wallace Way in Festus.

“The suspect, driving a 2016 Chevy Cruze, tried to run over his wife and her friend with the vehicle,” Lewis said. “He struck the man. The suspect was arrested about 10 minutes later by officers, because he came back to the scene.”

Lewis said Ivy’s estranged wife, who lives in Festus, and her male friend, who lives in Desloge, both are 42.

“(The male friend) had scratches to his upper torso and injuries to his arm and leg,” Lewis said. “He refused medical treatment.”

Ivy was arrested by Festus Police on April 11.
