Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police are searching for a 20-year-old Pacific man who allegedly sped through the city while fleeing from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The man evaded both Eureka Police officers and Highway Patrol troopers, police reported.

Eureka Police were told at about 10:40 p.m. March 30 that the man was driving a 2009 Honda Civic that was being pursued by the Highway Patrol. Officers saw the man driving east on Fifth Street at what appeared to be a high rate of speed, the report said.

The man allegedly was not maintaining a single lane, and when a Eureka officer turned on his vehicle’s emergency lights, the man continued to flee. The officer did not continue to pursue the car as the Highway Patrol continued to chase the Civic, according to the report.

Another officer saw the man turn onto westbound I-44. That officer chased the man onto the interstate, but the man continued to drive away. The Eureka officer also did not chase the Civic, the report said.

As of April 20, Eureka Police had not been informed if the Highway Patrol stopped the man, and it was not known if the man had been arrested, Lt. Brett Grittini said.
