A barn near Hwy. F and Dublin Drive in the Jefferson County portion of Pacific was destroyed by a fire on July 4, said Chief Steve Sagehorn of the Pacific Fire Protection District.
He said no animals were in the barn at the time.
Pacific Fire got a call at 11:37 p.m. about the fire, which is in a remote area. The fire was under control by 12:30 a.m.
Sagehorn said the fire is under investigation, but it appears accidental.
He said the fire had been burning for a while before firefighters arrived.
Sagehorn said firefighters were on the scene until 2:15 a.m. The Eureka, Cedar Hill and Boles fire protection districts, and the Meramec Ambulance District helped with the call.
