Sheriff's Office badge, new

A 2019 Ford Mustang left running in front of a home in the 2200 block of Castlegate Drive in Imperial was stolen Feb. 13. However, it was recovered later the same day in High Ridge, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The victim told deputies he started his car to warm it up and returned to his house to make coffee at about 5 a.m., and when he went outside to leave at 5:20 a.m., the car was gone, the report said.

The Mustang, which was valued at $30,300, was recovered in the 5000 block of Carlton Drive in High Ridge, according to the report.

“The vehicle was towed,” Sgt. Matthew Moore of the Sheriff’s Office said. “The owner was notified.”

He said there was no reported damage to the Mustang. However, a work backpack the victim left in the car was missing. The backpack and its contents were valued at $756, the report said.

No arrests have been made, Moore said Feb. 26. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
