Ammunition, knifes, handcuffs and other items that belonged to an officer from a St. Louis area law enforcement agency recently were stolen from a private vehicle parked on Lewis Lane in Barnhart, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Between 8 p.m. March 7 and 7:30 a.m. March 8, someone unlawfully entered the vehicle and stole the items, altogether valued at $5,038.36, the report said.
The officer said the vehicle had been locked, but there were no obvious signs of forced entry, said Maj. Ralph Brown of the Sheriff’s Office.
Stolen items included two magazines for a Beretta 9mm handgun with 15 rounds in each one; a boot knife; a folding knife; two pairs of handcuffs; a ballistic vest and a vest carrier; a baton; mace; a portable radio; two flashlights; and a belt, the report said.
Some items were missing from inside the vehicle and some from the trunk, according to the report.
During the investigation, a silver folding knife was found on the ground near the vehicle. The knife did not belong to the victim, so it was seized as evidence, the report said.
As of March 18, the stolen items had not been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, Brown said.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
