Arnold Police are investigating the theft of a debit card from a car left unlocked outside an apartment building in the 1700 block of Richardson Road. After the card was stolen, it was used to make more than $1,000 worth of purchases throughout the St. Louis area, Arnold Police reported.

The victim, a 36-year-old Arnold woman, said her 2018 Chevrolet Cruze was rummaged through overnight between Oct. 13 and Oct. 14. Then, the card was used Oct. 14 and Oct. 19 to make $1,024.07 in purchases, the report said.

The victim said initially, after finding the car had been rummaged through, she didn’t believe anything had been stolen. However, on Oct. 19, her bank alerted her to multiple transactions that had been made, according to the report.

The card was used at a Walmart in Granite City, Ill., Lumiere Place Casino and Hotel in St. Louis, Ozzie’s Restaurant and Sports Bar at the casino, Walmart in Maplewood, a Burger King in St. Louis County and other businesses throughout the St. Louis area, Arnold Police reported.

As of Oct. 30, no suspects had been identified, and police were still investigating the incident, Capt. Rich Shular said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
