A 16-year-old Festus girl has been found after she went missing more than two months ago.
Jaiden Treon returned to her home at about 7:30 a.m. today, Aug. 29, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Grant Bissell said.
He said a family member notified authorities that Jaiden had returned home, and Sheriff’s Office Detective Andrew Monroe, who had been assigned to the missing person case, and a deputy went to the house. The teenager was then turned over to juvenile authorities.
Timmy Treon said his daughter ran away from home on June 22 and was reported missing to the Sheriff’s Office that day.
He said she left in one of the family’s cars that she typically used to get to school and to work at the Pasta House restaurant in Festus.
Treon also said his daughter had a history of running away and had run away on June 21, but St. Louis County Police found her that same day in St. Ann.
On Aug. 15, the Sheriff’s Office asked for help with its search for Jaiden. In a Facebook post at the time, the Sheriff’s Office said the teen could have been in St. Charles County, St. Louis County, the city of St. Louis or Illinois.
