A woman who was walking her dog the morning of Jan. 31 in Jokerst Park in Festus spotted suspicious-looking items that turned out to be methamphetamine-making materials, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis says.
“The lady was walking her dog around 10 a.m. in Jokerst Park and as she walked by a trash can, she saw a muriatic acid container and other items,” he said. “She didn’t know what it was but thought it was suspicious and called it in to us.”
Lewis said he did not want to give other details about the materials found.
Festus Police has no suspects, Lewis said Tuesday (Feb 4).
He said his department turned over the investigation to the Jefferson County Municipal Enforcement Group Drug Task Force.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Drug Task Force at 636-797-6467.
