A 40-year-old man was injured this morning (Aug. 14) when a camper he was in went up in flames. The camper was parked on property outside a home in the 400 block of Old State Road South in Pevely, said Chief Brad Williams of the Dunklin Fire Protection District.
Authorities have not released the man’s name. He was transported by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur with undisclosed injuries.
Dunklin Fire got a call at 8:50 about the fire, Williams said.
“It’s a total loss,” he said of the camper. “The detached garage next to the camper is singed.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the state Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to help investigate, said Williams, who was still at the scene as of 11:10 a.m.
The Herculaneum and Festus fire departments helped with the call, Williams said.
