Arnold Police arrested a 36-year-old Bonne Terre man for allegedly threatening an employee with a knife at Target, 3949 Vogel Road. The employee had confronted the man because it was believed he had stolen from the department store, police reported.

Officers were called at about 3:05 p.m. Feb. 28 to the store after the man had run away. He was allegedly seen selecting two toys inside the store and returning the items at the customer service desk to receive $39.84, the report said.

When an employee attempted to stop the man from leaving the store, he allegedly pulled a knife from his pocket and waved it toward the employee, according to the report.

Detectives were able to identify the man through surveillance video and other resources. On March 1, Arnold Police detectives and St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested the man at a home north of Bonne Terre, the report said.

The man was taken to the Arnold Police Station, where he was booked and released pending the application for a warrant, according to the report.

Arnold Police will seek a charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for stealing and unlawful use of a weapon, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
