man in handcuffs

A 35-year-old Arnold man wanted on outstanding warrants allegedly was found with methamphetamine after he was arrested in a bathroom at the Schnucks grocery store, 1253 Water Tower Place, according to Arnold Police.

Officers were called to the store at about 10:30 a.m. Jan. 9 because employees suspected the man was stealing from the store. A manager told officers the man was inside the restroom, the report said.

Officers found the man in the restroom and discovered he was wanted on a felony warrant from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and a misdemeanor warrant from the St. Louis County Police Department. The man was arrested for the warrants, and when officers searched him, they allegedly found a bag containing a crystal-like substance in his wallet and a smoking pipe in his pocket, according to the report.

The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and held for the Sheriff’s Office and St. Louis County Police Department. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
