A garage at a home on Del Haven Drive in the Fenton area was damaged by fire, which may have been caused by fire.

Crews from High Ridge Fire responded to a call about a fire at a garage at a home on Del Haven Drive in the Fenton area.

Lightning may have caused a fire that damaged a garage in the 1200 block of Del Haven Drive in unincorporated Fenton on Sunday (July 25). Four adults were in the home when the fire broke out and got out uninjured, said Capt. John Barton of the High Ridge Fire Protection District.

He said crews were dispatched to the fire at 9:58 a.m. after a neighbor called 911 after hearing what sounded like an explosion.

Barton said there had been heavy storms in the area and it is “highly” likely lightning contributed to the fire but was unable to officially rule it was the cause of the fire.

Crews arrived on the scene at 10:03 a.m., and remained there until 11:27 a.m., Barton said.

He said the home had just minor smoke damage and was still habitable.

The Saline Valley and Fenton fire protection districts helped with the call, and the North Jefferson County Ambulance District also responded to the scene.
