Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police are investigating the theft of $19,375 worth of jewelry from a resident of St. Andrew’s at Francis Place, 400 Summerville Blvd. Two family members reported the theft after noticing that two rings the woman typically wore were missing on April 3, Eureka Police reported.

Officers were called at about 3:30 p.m. April 11 to the senior living center. An 88-year-old Eureka woman’s son and daughter-in-law told police they started noticing jewelry was missing after she moved into the facility in May 2020, and they had reported it to the staff, the report said.

The woman’s relatives said they decided to call police after she was at their home on March 6 and a picture was taken of her wearing four rings. They said when they visited the woman on April 3, two of the rings were missing, according to the report.

The relatives said one of the rings is worth $5,780, and the other ring is worth $4,595. They also said two bracelets the woman owns are missing, and each bracelet is worth $4,500, the report said.

Eureka Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and they have forwarded the report to the Missouri Department Health and Senior Services. St. Andrew’s at Franics Place also is conducting an internal investigation, according to the report.

As of Monday, none of the jewelry had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Capt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with information about the jewelry to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
