Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police are investigating the theft of about $2,200 worth of jewelry from a display cabinet in the Great Midwest Antique Mall, 530 Workman Road. The theft probably occurred on July 23, but the missing items were not discovered until July 24, Eureka Police reported.

At about noon July 23, an employee heard a crash near the back of the store and left the front of the store to clean up the broken item. Police believe that’s when someone cut a lock on the display cabinet in a booth near the front of the business. The theft was discovered at about 8 a.m. July 24, the report said.

Among the items stolen from the cabinet, which belongs to a 74-year-old St. Louis woman, were two rings, six bracelets, three necklaces, earrings, a stone and a cross, according to a report.

As of July 30, none of the stolen items had been recovered and no suspects had been identified, Capt. David Wilson said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
