The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 47-year-old St. Louis man for allegedly shooting at another man during an apparent road-rage incident on Hwy. 21 near Hwy. 141 between Arnold and Fenton, police reported.

At about 10 p.m. March 23, the St. Louis man was driving a blue Dodge Ram and the other man was driving a black Jeep Renegade south on Hwy. 21. A witness told investigators driver of the Ram shot at the Renegade near Hwy. 141, the report said.

The Renegade was hit several times. The driver of the Renegade then allegedly shot back at the Ram, which also was struck several times, according to the report.

No injuries were reported.

Deputies found evidence of the shooting in both vehicles and along Hwy. 21 near Hwy. 141. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said on Tuesday, April 2, that the department would not say what evidence was found in the vehicles or near the highway.

The driver of the Ram was arrested and taken to Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where he was booked and released pending the application of charges. The Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action, Bissell said.

He also said the case was still being investigated as of Tuesday, and it was not known if the Sheriff’s Office would request charges against the driver of the Renegade.
