Investigators search a Mazda SUV that was driven this morning to Festus City Hall and Police Station on Tuesday morning by a woman who allegedly told officers she killed two of her children.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary at a home under construction on O’Brien Drive in Cedar Hill. It looked like someone forced open the front door to the home and stole two 100-pound propane tanks, a 50-foot propane hose and numerous tools, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The items belonged to McBride & Son Homes and the Builder’s Block Co. Altogether, the stolen items were valued at $6,800, and the damage to the door was estimated at $1,600, the report said.

The burglary occurred between 3:30 p.m. Dec. 23 and 8 a.m. Dec. 27. As of Dec. 28, none of the stolen items had been recovered and no suspects had been identified, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.
