Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police are investigating thefts from several unlocked vehicles at three locations throughout the city. The thefts occurred between about 2:30 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. April 1, police reported.

One of the victims provided police with surveillance footage that reportedly showed two people, who were wearing hooded sweatshirts, going through an SUV outside a home in the 16000 block of Enderbush Lane. The footage also reportedly showed another person driving a silver, four-door sedan and following the suspects as they allegedly rummaged through the vehicles, the report said.

The men allegedly rifled through two SUVs on Enderbush Lane. One of the victims, a 43-year-old Eureka man, told police a Michael Kors purse valued at $200 was stolen from one of the SUVs – a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse that was parked outside his home. Another victim, a 46-year-old Eureka man, said his 2007 Jeep Commander parked outside his home was rummaged through but nothing was stolen, according to the report.

Police also were called to an apartment complex on Meramec Lane, where four vehicles were rummaged through during the same period, the report said.

A 53-year-old Eureka woman told police her 2014 Jeep Cherokee parked at the complex was gone through and change and a car seat bobby, which provides additional head support for an infant, were stolen, the report said.

A 34-year-old Eureka man said change and a cell phone charger were stolen from his 2012 Ford Escape parked outside the apartments, and a 67-year-old Eureka man said the owner’s manual and car registration were stolen from his 2008 Pontiac Solstice, according to the report.

Also, a 36-year-old Eureka woman said her 2013 Mercedes-Benz was gone through, but nothing was stolen, according to the report.

Altogether, about $109 worth of change and other items were stolen from the vehicles at the apartment complex, the report said.

In addition, police responded to a call in the 200 block of North Virginia Avenue, where a 27-year-old Eureka woman said a Lauren Conrad purse was stolen from her 2015 Ford Fusion. The purse contained a wallet, house keys and a debit card. The purse was valued at $50, according to the report.

The woman told police someone tried to use the debit card that morning at three gas stations in the area. However, she had canceled the card before the transactions were processed, the report said.

As of April 8, none of the missing items had been recovered, and the two people seen in the video had not been identified, Capt. David Wilson said. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
