A 29-year-old Imperial woman recently was arrested for alleged tampering, shoplifting and outstanding warrants. She was arrested just before 11 a.m. June 15 at the Arnold Walmart Supercenter, 2201 Michigan Ave. Her husband, a 29-year-old St. Louis man, was arrested less than an hour earlier for allegedly stealing from the same Walmart store, Arnold Police report.
An Arnold Police officer was patrolling around the store and noticed the woman drive a 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada onto the parking lot. She was acting suspiciously and after parking the SUV, she ran into the store, Detective Lt. James Jones said.
The officer checked the SUV’s license plate number and found that it had been reported stolen. So, the officer went inside the store and found the woman, who allegedly had stolen $22 worth of merchandise during the short period she was there, Jones said.
In addition, the woman was wanted on warrants from Jefferson County for assault, in St. Louis County for speeding and in St. Louis for a stop sign violation, Jones said.
The woman’s husband, who was issued a summons to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for stealing $5.94 in items from Walmart earlier that day, was waiting in the SUV. Both he and his wife were taken into custody and booked. The man was released pending application for warrants, and the woman was held for one of the other law enforcement agencies, Jones said.
Arnold Police will seek tampering ands stealing charges against the woman and tampering charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Jones said.
