A 37-year-old Imperial woman and her 16-year-old daughter recently were arrested in connection with a shoplifting incident at Walmart, 2201 Michigan Ave., in Arnold, says Capt. Robert Ruckman of the Arnold Police Department.

A 23-year-old St. Louis man was with them, and he, too, was arrested, Arnold Police reported.

In all, the three allegedly stole $45.50 in merchandise, mainly makeup, Ruckman said.

Arnold Police got a call just after midnight Sept. 29 that the man had stolen items from the store and ran away from security, the report said.

Not long after that, Arnold Police found the man and took him into custody, according to the report.

During the investigation, police determined that the Imperial woman was with the man during the shoplifting incident, and she had stolen a soda, the report said.

Officers also learned that the woman’s daughter was with the two during the incident, and when the teenager was questioned, she allegedly gave officers false information. Also during the investigation, officers learned that the teen already was on probation for a juvenile violation, according to the report.

The man and woman were arrested for stealing, issued summonses to appear in Municipal Court and released.

The teen was arrested for stealing and obstruction, and her case was turned over to juvenile authorities, Ruckman said.
