Arnold Police are trying to locate a man who reportedly sold equipment that had been rented from a Home Depot store in Evansville, Ind., to a 53-year-old Imperial man. The Imperial man paid $9,000 for the equipment, police reported.
The Imperial man told investigators he purchased a Toro Dingo mini skid steer, a Toro auger bit and a Toro Dingo trailer through Facebook Marketplace on Aug. 19. He said he met the seller in front of Lowe’s, 920 Arnold Commons Drive, in Arnold to pay for and receive the equipment, the report said.
The victim said the man was supposed to mail him the titles for the equipment. However, after the Imperial man did not receive the titles, he contacted the manufacturer on Oct. 18 and was told the mini skid steer, auger bit and trailer belonged to Home Depot, according to the report.
The seller had a different name than the person who rented the equipment in Indiana, the report said.
The Imperial man returned the equipment to Home Depot, but he has not been reimbursed for the $9,000 he paid for the items, according to the report.
Arnold Police are working with Evansville Police to identify the man who sold the stolen items, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said on Oct. 26.
